Sedation Dentistry
…IMAGINE…A
completely relaxing and safe way to achieve a radiant and healthy
smile without the anxiety and pain you feel about going to the
dentist…A TOTALLY ANXIETY FREE APPOINTMENT….Whether it's a broken
tooth that needs to be fixed, yellow teeth that need to be whitened,
missing teeth that need to be replaced, or pain that needs to be
eliminated, with Sedation Dentistry you can regain your health and
have the beautiful and healthy smile you always wanted.
Dr. Greg Ganji, Dr. Suzie Yang and their team are all specially trained in
Sedation Dentistry to provide a safe, relaxing, caring environment
so patients can truly receive the best care available. Before starting
any treatments, the doctors will review your medical history and
determine if Sedation Dentistry is right for you.
What is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation Dentistry is defined as a minimally reduced level of consciousness
that retains the patient's ability to independently and continuously
maintain an airway as well as awareness.
What can I Expect?
On the day of your appointment, you will take the medication
- a pill – in our office. Experienced clinical team members
are with you during your entire visit to make certain that you are
completely relaxed and comfortable and continue to monitor your
comfort very closely throughout your treatment. Many patients feel
no discomfort whatsoever during and after treatment. Fortunately,
sedation medications have an amnesic effect. That means you'll have
very little, if any, memory of the sights, smells or sounds of your
visit.
After Treatment
When your treatment is complete you may be a bit wobbly, so your
companion will take you home and stay with you until you're recovered.
You'll be amazed at how much can be accomplished in such a seemingly
short period of time, while you were totally relaxed, and completely
comfortable. And best of all, the very next day you will feel fantastic.
Relaxation Gas
If you do not want to take a prescription medication, we also offer
relaxation gas (also known as Nitrous or Laughing Gas). Relaxation
gas can help ease anxiety while allowing you to return to work after
the procedure and a ride home is not necessary. We simply place
a small mask over your nose and as you breath in the gas, you will
start to feel very relaxed. When the procedure is finished, we will
remove the nose mask and you will feel great.
What is the difference between Oral Sedation Dentistry
and General Anesthesia and I.V. Sedation?
Unlike General Anesthesia where a patient is completely unconscious,
asleep, and unable to respond, patients under Conscious Sedation
are able to respond to conversations and breathe on their own. Also
unlike General Anesthesia or I.V. sedation, Oral Conscious sedation
does not require needles to administer and does not have the higher
fees associated with I.V. Sedation. The doctors will simply prescribe
a pill that will have you calm and relaxed for your dental appointment.
Oral Conscious Sedation protocols have been used safely for over
30 years but were recently enhanced to significantly improve the
dental experience. There are no needles required to administer Oral
Conscious Sedation and you will feel little or no discomfort once
you are sedated.
